So yesterday I shared my word and verse for 2016, and today I'd like to get some accountability rolling by sharing my goals. Because there's nothing like a little public documentation to light the fire, right?! So here we go, how I set my goals and what they look like for the coming year....
To get started, I first made a giant, messy list of all the goals I had floating around in my head in my powersheets workbook. Note: when I'm doing this, I just let the ideas flow. Big ones, small ones, random ones---I don't hold back as I dream up all the things I want to make happen this year, even if they sound too far-fetched. My intention is just to get all the little "I should do _____" and "Wouldn't it be a dream come true if ______" and "When I'm 80, I'll have wished that I had ______" thoughts out on paper, and then hash them out later.
And then, it was time to get specific. Looking back at my initial goal list and pages of notes about what matters most in my life, I identified categories that I could group my goals into. These are the buckets I came up with:
Work (Lettered Life)
Health & Wellness
As a creative brain girl, this step is super important to me because my brain can go to TOWN with ideas. Having buckets help me see clearly the most important themes in life, so I can make sure the goals I'm coming up with actually align with the person I hope to be.
So with those categories as filters, I narrowed my 2016 goal list to this:
- Give LL a clear vision and plan for 2016. Streamline current work processes to free up time so I can spend MORE time doing the most important things
- Set product launch schedule for 2016.
- Grow wholesale program by reaching out to new retailers
- Collaborate with other creative business people
- Make a font!!
- Set a social media game plan so it is not a time waster, but a fun, meaningful, encouraging way to connect with others
- Send a monthly newsletter
- Create a design portfolio
- Blog weekly!
- Set 2016 financial goal and break it down monthly, with steps for hitting each month's target
- Give. More time, money, stuff away.
- Organize office so that it works better functionally for myself and my husband
- Plan meals weekly
- Set aside 5-10 minutes at end of work day to "tidy-up"/make list for next day
- At least one random act of kindness per month
- Extend invitations. Invite people to coffee/dinner/froyo/etc.
- Monthly dates with Austin!
- Encourage and check-in with extended family weekly
- Make Sundays less hustle, more Sabbath
- Plan a vaca!
HEALTH & WELLNESS
- Exercise 6 days a week
- Drink 48 oz of water a day (I'm super bad at this. I know you're supposed to drink more than that. This would be a big improvement!)
- Set a 10:00 bedtime (I'm a night owl---this one will take some serious self-discipline.)
- Go to the adoration chapel once a week
- Set a rotating weekly prayer schedule. Ex: Mondays = friends. Tuesdays = vocations. Wednesdays = family....
- Read 2 books per month
- Attend 2 conferences
So there ya have it, the big list. And while it seems massive and like a lot of change, that's why I'm putting it out there. Because going for it is how you make progress, right? I think with a whole lot of prayer and grace, I'll be able to smile back on this list and say, HECK YES, 2016. I went for it, and I'm thankful I did.
I'll be breaking these big goals into little steps and turning them into monthly goals, so you'll see a post specifically for January shortly. (Because heaven knows I'll need to get a need to get started on this stuff asap in order to make it happen by the end of the year.)
